My uncle Bill is an amazing man and more importantly a great man of God. He's the owner of ROI Realty Services and has served as a pastor for many years. He is a man of strong conviction and is an incredible father. He is a natural leader and reflects God in all he does. What impresses me most about uncle Bill is that he knows how to balance his work life with his life at home. This is something that I really admire because it is hard not to bring home your work with you. This has allowed him to have a thriving marriage and a tight nit family.

What makes uncle Bill and I so similar is our love for the outdoors, sports, and God. Being away at college has been hard but we have always been able to stay close over the years and he has been a prayer warrior for me. Whenever I need something he is the first person I call. He always know how to direct me and encourage me in the right way.

A topic that we constantly discus together is trying to balance sports, school, young life, and a social life. There are many moments throughout college where I have needed his advice and he has always been there for me. My freshman year trying to transition to college life and athletics, to making a life changing transition by transferring my sophomore year to Wheaton, and this year struggling with an injury. Bill always seems to know how to support me because he has lived the life of college athletics, being a football player at Cornell. He always loves to take his life stories and share them with me to help me during hard times. He is able to shine a light on many situations because they were very similar to his. He has also been a great spiritual leader and a wonderful example of how to live out your faith in the business world. One thing he constantly reminds me of is that prayer is a vital aspect and how we need to be in constant communication with God. I have learned so much from my uncle and I can't wait to share more about what he has taught me and what is currently teaching me now.

  1. Chuck,

Sounds like a very cool relationship that you have with your uncle. Personally, I'm not that close with any of my uncles so it's very cool to hear you talk about your Uncle Bill like this. I hope that you continue to be able to keep in good contact with him this next year and even after college. Also, if he is anything like ole Chip Greenlee I for sure want to meet him some time.

  2. Charles,

Thanks so much for the post. Your relationship with Uncle Bill sounds like its so meaningful to you and it is so cool to hear how he has helped you grow, despite going through some difficult times. Having someone close to you, whether its a family member or friend, who is such a great mentor is key to spiritual growth. Uncle Bill sounds like a one of a kind guy and I think its awesome that you have so much in common and that you get along so well. I hope he can grill a mean steak or pork chop as well your dad.

  3. Charlie,

Thank you so much for sharing about your relationship with Uncle Bill. It is so awesome that he has been able to pour into you the way that he has. Also the fact that he can relate to everything you're going through with school and football, as he has experienced the same thing. I love that he has really taught you the importance of prayer. I don't think we can ever pray enough, as it is so powerful and instrumental in our lives. Keep letting uncle Bill influence and impact your life.

  4. Chase,

I am glad to hear you have such a good relationship with your uncle. It seems that he is quite knowledgeable and can relate to you well. I am close with some of my uncles, but not to the degree that you are. It is great that you can have someone like Bill in your life who knows a lot of what you are going through. Thanks for sharing. I look forward to hearing more about his impact on your life.
