Jeremiah Yi blog post 2

The second meeting between me and my mentor, Rick, was over a meal at SAGA. One thing you
need to know about Rick is that he loves to talk. He can go on and on about his college years or about
stories that are related to literally anything near him. He’s got stories for days and days.
The first portion of our meeting was just us discussing what was going on in our lives and
discussing how we I was doing spiritually and academically. Having someone to keep me spiritually and academically accountable is something I really needed for my freshman year. Having someone
constantly on my back for certain assignments, projects, and my grades has helped me tremendously.
After our talk about our lives, we discussed our current tennis season and discussed some of the
upcoming matches. We discussed the two tough teams that we were going to play. While talking about those teams, Rick was able to give me some tips and pointers on how to improve my tennis game.
Coming from a tennis background, Rick was really able to give helpful and applicable information.
During our discussion on our current season, we somehow got sidetracked into talking about
what exactly I was majoring in. After a little confusion of what a degree in business/economics entailed, I started talking about how I wanted to minor in computer science as well. After talking over the minor in computer science with coach Rick, he told me that a minor in computer science seemed like a really good idea and that it could potentially help me find a job in more startups having to do with programming and software.
