Selvaggio Post #1
I have had a couple mentors in my life. The most prevalent was my high school assistant football coach. His name was Eric Bowling, he also was a teacher and taught Bible and AP Psych. My Freshman year of high school was my first year ever playing football. So I had no clue what to expect. Bowling was the JV head coach and immediately took me under his wing. He would meet regular with me and guide me through my life and ask me questions of how I am doing. Throughout High School we would meet regularly and he would just talk to me about life and guide me through college decision making. He helped me to decide that I wanted to play football in college and was there along side me as I was making my decision to go to Wheaton. He was just a super important part in my development throughout high school. By the end of high school I even told him, " Bowling I don't even see you as a teacher anymore, but you're just a close friend". He laughed and agreed. So that is a mentor who has meant a lot and we still maintain this relationship

Theodore,
ReplyDeleteIt is awesome that you have been able to develop such a close bond with a great mentor. To have somebody who has seen you develop throughout high school and into college is really cool. I hope you continue your relationship with him and continue to let him impact your life in a positive way.

Theeeeeeoooooo,
ReplyDeleteI don't think I knew that you started playing football as a freshman in high school, but it all makes sense now... But seriously, Eric sounds like a great dude. Wheaton Academy seems to consistently have some great guys working over there. Hopefully you can continue this relationship with Eric even as we graduate from college. Also, if you don't follow through on your word and come visit again this summer, "you know who" will be very disappointed.

Theo,
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you decided to share about your relationship with your coach. Eric sounds like he has had a big impact on your life. It sounds like you have a special relationship with him. My coaches have always played a big part in shaping me, so I look forward to hearing more about Eric's impact on you.

Theo,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. It is great to see how impactful Coach Bowling has been to you ever since high school. I was wondering if you still keep in touch with him. I find it encouraging how coach led you to see that playing football in college was a passion of yours. I am sure you do not regret making this choice and it speaks to the positive influence of your coach.
Best,
Harry
