This past Monday I had the privilege of meeting with my mentor Peter again. We just talked about life, and the transition he had from graduating college into finding a job and choosing a career path. He ultimately chose to go on full time staff with Younglife, and would remain in that position for close to four years. He loved interacting with high schoolers and loved his job there. He choose to do something he loved and that he was passionate about. As he is transitioning into a job in the business world, he is anxious and excited about what the future holds.
This really stuck out to me. I feel like i have had the assumption that whatever job or path i choose to go down right after college will be the only one, and that i cannot change. This made me feel a lot of pressure to choose something i really wanted to do right out of school. Peter reassured me of the fact that God is going to lead me and that i can trust Him with every decision i make. Not only that, but that could mean working completely different jobs throughout my life. It was really encouraging and assuring to talk with Peter, as his life is a living example of what it means like to trust God entirely with your future.
Daniel,
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed reading your posts about you and your mentor. It is great that you have someone to discuss your future with who has similar experiences to you having attended Wheaton and played football. I am glad that you were able to gain some insights into how life is outside of college. I hope this helps you be more confident in whatever career you get when you finish up school next year.
